TEACHER TAX CREDIT PROGRAM

The purpose of the Teacher Tax Credit Program is to recruit and retain effective teachers to teach in identified school based on criteria established in House Bill 32 passed in 2021. 

To be eligible for the tax credit, teachers must meet the following criteria:     

1. Have attained a bachelor’s degree from a postsecondary educational institution with a teacher certification program approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC);   
2. Hold a valid five-year induction or professional certificate issued by the GaPSC (eligible teachers may not hold provisional certificates); and   
3. Have recently been hired to teach in identified High-Need Subject Areas  in a Participating School.  A recently hired teacher, whether new or experienced, must have accepted his/her first school year contract to teach at a Participating School for the 2022-2023, 2023-2024, or 2024-2025 school year to be eligible.
